Two boutique London based law firms specialising in high net worth divorce and family law are to merge on 1 February 2024. It is the first London merger of established boutique firms in this field.
Alexiou Fisher Philipps and BloomBudd are to merge to form AFP Bloom. Both firms are ranked across the directories and are among a handful of firms ranking as family law specialists in the ultra-high net worth guide of Chambers & Partners.
The three principal partners Tom Amlot, William Healing and Zoë Bloom have more than 60 combined years of experience in this field. The enlarged firm operating from existing West End offices will comprise 20 lawyers and paralegals and will include 8 partners. All AFP Bloom lawyers will specialise in high value international divorce work.
AFP Bloom welcome to the partnership Nicole Derham and Lucy Brown. Nicole is Ireland, New York Bar and England and Wales qualified. Lucy worked as a senior associate at AFP and before that held a senior role at another well-known central London firm.
London remains one of the divorce capitals of the world owing to the number of international families, and the discretionary nature of English family law on divorce which can result in substantial divorce settlements. The firm will include specialists covering complex children work and a well-respected niche Anglo-French and European family law offering.
Alexiou Fisher Philipps was formed in 2001 and is an established well-known West End boutique and also ranked in the Times 200 Best Law Firms. BloomBudd was formed more recently and has grown rapidly in size and reputation within its specialist field of family law.
William Healing said: “Alexiou Fisher Philipps is one of the first established family law boutiques as family law developed at the turn of the century with fairer big-ticket settlements. BloomBudd has grown into a new powerhouse of family law. Both firms have complementary client-focussed values which are appreciated by clients and barristers. In addition, we are also committed to bringing on the next generation of talented lawyers in the new invigorated partnership.”
Zoë Bloom has added: “Bringing together the old and the new to create one dynamic firm is incredibly exciting. Both boutique firms were established because the founders wanted to deliver great outcomes for clients, without the compromises often found in larger organisations. We will continue to offer an agile service which is client focussed with a strong balance of lawyers and paralegals across all levels.”
The firm will operate from AFP's current offices in Marylebone at 106-108 Wigmore Street, London W1U 3LR.
